Happy New Year and trust you are well!  Toronto Chapter is organizing its first major in-person professional development event of the new year on January 21, 2023 (Saturday) at the Courtyard Marriott, Brampton with Breakfast and Lunch.

 

The event will feature important and relevant sessions on Ethics, Financial Crimes in Canada and Wealth Management insights through Wills and Estate Planning by industry subject matter experts.  Please see below the list of sessions and a brief bio of our speakers.

  1. Code of Ethics – Recent amendments, decisions of Ethical Standards Board – Mr. Sanjiv Chaudhary, CA (India), CPA (Australia)

Nominated by the ICAI, Sanjiv Chaudhary was appointed to the IESBA in 2019.  With over 37 years experience, Mr. Chaudhary is a Senior Advisor, Policy and Regulatory matters in a large accounting firm having international affiliation. He was a member of the ICAI Central Council from February 2013 till February 2019 and  has served on various committees including the Expert Advisory Committee, Research Committee, Accounting Standard Board, Audit & Assurance Standards Board, and International Taxes committees. He also chaired the ICAI’s Ethical Standards Board for 2018-19 year and presently a co-opted member of the said Board.  A Chartered Accountant, Mr. Chaudhary holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) from University of Delhi, India; CPA Australia; and is a registered Insolvency Professional and a Law Graduate.

 

  1. Financial Crimes in Canada – Mr. Cameron Field, M.Sc., CAMS, Vice President, Vidocq Group

Cam served 32 years with the Toronto Police Service and retired in 2017. He served in many roles including Officer in Charge of the Threat Assessment team, Investigative Training Team and the Corporate Crimes Unit. He then joined the anti-money Laundering team at BMO as the intelligence liaison and head of operational effectiveness. In September of 2022 he left BMO and accepted a role with the Vidocq Group as the Vice President of Toronto operations. He leads teams that consult private and public sector entities on enhanced due diligence in private equity and M+A work, financial crime, money laundering, sanctions, regulatory risk and complex corporate investigations. Cam holds a BA in Justice Studies, a MSc in Criminology and is a certified anti money laundering specialist.   

 

  1. Wills & Estate Planning – Mr. Devesh Gupta, Lawyer, Founder, Prudent Law

Devesh Gupta earned his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Ontario in 2012. Before attending law school, he obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University.  After completing law school, Devesh had the unique opportunity to article with the City of London, Ontario. During this time he gained invaluable experience in the fields of litigation, municipal law, planning law, and real estate law. While articling with the City of London, Devesh had the exceptional opportunity to conduct several trials independently, allowing him to earn valuable courtroom and litigation experience. He also gained exposure to the nuances of municipal liability in matters of construction and civil litigation. Devesh’s drive for success then led him to a prominent firm on Bay Street where he learnt the nuances of contract drafting and corporate law. He continued this work at a long-standing firm in Mississauga, where he honed his corporate, civil litigation, and real estate skills.

 

  1. Wealth Planning and Insurance – Mr. Lalit Goyal, President, Risk Solution

Lalit is an insurance professional, MBA, LLQP and RIBO qualified. He is a leader, mentor & financial security advisor and an Investment Strategist.

 

He is a founder of Risk Solution – Prestigious Insurance and Investment Strategy management company. He is also speaker on various Radio stations primarily elaborating the financial planning needs and powerful wealth management techniques. His results led him to speak in various Radio talk shows on financial security. He has vast knowledge of handling individuals, families, and Business owners on personal or corporate financial planning. Lalit’s expertise in Insurance Risk management and planning financial security and investment.

 

With 17 years of experience in insurance and investments, Lalit is well-versed in guiding his client’s into strategic financial planning.
